I thought I would make a wedding gift for the daughter of a colleague that is getting married in September.  The inspiration for this gift came from Pinterest.  Lots of ideas on Pinterest – the limit is your imagination!.  Saw some embroidery with “His & Hers” names and I thought this would make a great wedding present – hope they like it. I think it turned out pretty good – what do you think?

I just wrote their names on paper, used a light box to transfer the names on fabric – I use 100% cotton. I then embroidered the names.  I got some linen fabric and a feather pillow insert from IKEA and stitched them all together.  I decided to embroider a black line around the cotton fabric, I thought this really made the names pop on the pillow.

I LOVE to sew baby bedding.  Creating custom bedding for babies has been my pleasure for the last couple of years.  I have had the pleasure of creating bedding for several of my co-workers and it has been fun!  I love using all the different colors, and fabrics and combinations that have gone into the bedding that I have made.

My niece Jenny and her husband Kurt are expecting their first baby.  They are the first of their generation in my family that is starting a family of their own. It is exciting and of course we are all overjoyed.  My mom and Dad started a tradition when my sister was expecting their first grandchild.  My dad made a cradle, in the hopes that future grandchildren and great grandchildren will also use the cradle.  As it turns out, my son Connor was the last to inhabit the cradle, – almost 19 years ag, until now.  So, I have the cradle and it is time to make some new bedding for it.

Kurt and Jenny have decided NOT to find out what the baby’s sex is before it is born.  Since Jenny is a University of Wisconsin grad, like myself,AND a BIG Badger fan, I thought that could be my inspiration for the cradle bedding.  I could make a bumper, quilt and even a matching sheet.  I choose the colors of  red, white and black and found some fun fabrics to use.  Here is the final result:

cradle bedding for Jenny

A red bumper with black checked cording, a black checked sheet, white and red quilt with the Univ of Wiscons “W” emblem, and a small pillow to match.  My Dad made the cradle, however, it is not shown on it’s stand.

What do you think?  I love the colors and I hope she likes it.  I shipped it all off today – so keep your fingers crossed that Jenny will like it.
